A fetus was found at a waste water treatment plant in Bayonne.

BAYONNE, New Jersey (WABC) -- Water workers in New Jersey made a disturbing discovery when they came across a fetus Tuesday afternoon.

It was found as they were screening the waste water at a SUEZ pumping station on Oak Street in Bayonne.

The workers immediately called police and an investigation is underway into where the fetus came from.

The station pumps waste water out of the city to another contractor that treats it.

SUEZ is cooperating fully with the investigation, a spokeswoman said.
