BOSTON -- There are new concerns about the long-term impact playing tackle football can have on young children.

A study by researchers at Boston University found children who played tackle football before the age of 12 had more behavioral and cognitive problems later in life.

It even tripled their chances of suffering from depression when they were older.

The study stopped short of recommending policy or rule changes for youth football, saying more research is needed.
